Jeff Bezos is worth a hundred and eighty nine billion dollars. That's a lot. While many people are focused on how much he is worth, I choose to look in a different direction. I also would love to redirect you to see it as well. You need to see what drives the man.
So, on July 20, Jeff Bezos was in space for 11 minutes. I saw lots of comments deriding it as a billionaires race to space because Richard Branson had done the same, and Elon Musk is planning an even bigger expedition. What seized my attention however was a video I saw. In the video, Jeff Bezos shared his desire with the interviewer. The desire, more like a fantasy, was to explore outer space. Watch the video here. When he mentioned it, there was laughter from the audience. Twenty years later, he is admired, not ridiculed.
In the 20 year period, Jeff had grown his empire from ordinary bookselling to a movie techvillain level of sophistication. It is amazing how strong your fantasies can influence insane achievements.
In my publication AN APPLE AND A BATH, I mentioned how people change the world accidentally because they want to make sense of it and enjoy it. Jeff Bezos is a modern example of that. Just retaining his lofty fantasies has resulted in the employment of over a million people. If that is not changing the world, I don't know what that is.
Elon Musk is another example of boys with fantasies. But then, he is changing the world in ways unimaginable just because the dude wants to have fun.
These people who are changing the world in uncommon ways share these qualities: they are child-like, genuinely and insanely curious, have weird fantasies, relaxed and serendipitous, they are sometimes quirky, and they just want to be taken care of. It is a nerd world. It is amazing what these set of qualities produce when they are married with qualities such as commitment, consistency and drive. It is a marriage that births wonders.
So dear reader, I don't know how much you want to change the world (I don't). I am interested in exploring what I want to explore. I want to enjoy pursuing my curiosity and follow where it leads. If it means I can change the world, so be it. I really just want to be less disgusted by snakes, and to be able to play football with my kids and fight with laserswords in my Darth Vader suit. But it is imperative that I keep up with my curiosity. I don't know about you, but this is me.
If you are interested in following up with your curiosity and passion, to learn and to explore, I can guide you on it, and provide the right community and framework. If you are interested, join this program to know more.
TL;DR, hold on to your fantasies, make sense of the world, and build what you want.
I will see you next time when I bring you great stuff.
Shalom.
